Shared Facilities
PPMS
This equipment multiplies the capacity of the labs. of the network to
characterize samples in a wide temperature (1.8 K- 400 K) and magnetic field
range (up to 9 T). The PPMS integrated measurements applications include
heat capacity measurements (automated relaxation technique), electrical
transport characterization (DC Resistivity AC Transport), thermal transport
measurements (thermal conductivity and Seebeck coefficient) and magnetometry
(AC susceptibility with 10-8 emu resolution and DC
Magnetization with 2.5×10-5
emu resolution). This equipment is
presently installed at the Facultad de Ingeniería (UBA).

SQUID
magnetometer (MPMS) : It
is an essential device for the network in order to perform high precision DC
magnetization measurements in small samples as thin films and small single
crystals that can not be measured by the magnetometer of the PPMS system.
Moreover, it’s an indispensable equipment to characterize nanometric compounds
with low magnetic signal. The best available VMS magnetometers allow
measurements in magnetic fields up to 2 T with a precision of 10-7
emu at room temperature. At lower temperatures, all these possibilities are
notably reduced. The MPMS SQUID should allow measurements with a 10-8
emu sensitivity at higher fields in all the temperature range above 2 K. That
would produce a qualitative leap both in the spectrum of samples able to be
characterized and in the quality of experimental results. The SQUID is
presently installed at the LBT of the Faculty of Sciences (UBA). More info ar

20 T pulsed magnetic field Experiments
which need high magnetic fields cover vast areas. The pulsed field magnetometer
facility has the following parameters: Field range up to 20 T in a
bore of at least 10 mm. Pulse duration between 0.2 and 2 ms.
Temperature range from liquid nitrogen up to 700 K. Type of measurements:
Temperature dependence of hysteresis, magnetic anisotropy, anisotropy field.
The 20 T pulsed facility is in final construction stage at the ...Córdoba
ESR
spectrometer The
BRUKER 300 ESR spectrometer, installed at the Magnetic Resonance Laboratory of
the Centro Atómico Bariloche, is an
essential tool for the project. It has
been in continuous operation since 1986 at X-band and the facilities were
extended to Q- and L- bands in 1991.
